NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT

In 2015, LAZ Parking took over the parking operations of a large New Haven medical center facility. It quickly became apparent that parking was a pressing logistical challenge for the institution — meeting the parking needs of their physicians, staff and vendors was critical to their present and future success.

Providing a creative solution to this challenge was a great opportunity for LPRI and LAZ to work together. LAZ brought the medical center the concept of a privately developed parking garage to serve physicians and staff, with LPRI as the developer and capital source. The bulk of the garage’s spaces would be leased to the medical center long term.

With the medical center’s enthusiastic approval, LPRI jumped into action to handle every facet of the project, from identifying and acquiring a nearby site that had already been approved for a public parking garage, to securing political support, to overseeing design and construction. The 763-stall parking facility is now open (and busy), complete with EV charging stations, parking guidance system, and a covered pickup/drop-off area.
